Welcome

My name is Alexandra Gibb and I am a dual Canadian-American citizen specializing in national defense and security reporting.

In 2006, I graduated from Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash. and returned to my native Vancouver, B.C. to pursue a BA in political science at Simon Fraser University. I graduated in 2011 with first-class Honours, having completed a comprehensive research project that applied a social enterprise business model to Chile’s socio-economic development. 

I recently graduated from the University of British Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism, where I completed my Masters thesis on drone journalism: the technology available, its practicality for both domestic and international reporting, and its potential ethical, legal and social implications for journalists, audiences and society. I also delved into the military and law enforcement applications of drone technology.

Today, I have the incredible honour of being a 2013 CBC News Vancouver Scholar. I spend my days learning the ins and outs of television, radio and web reporting and producing from the journalists I've admired for years.
